Brothers, There are several items that I would like to bring to your attention. This month is dedicated to our Lady and to the Rosary. Let us remember to fervently pray that she ask her Son, our Lord, God and Savior to intercede for us. Since it is the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary, let us re-member The Fatima Prayer: "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy."

In September, you continued to show your support for our Council and Order by your participation in numerous activities and events. Our brother Knights, ably led by Will Kamholz, and further sup-ported by David & Barbara Bluto and Hank & Rose Kornmeyer did an exceptional job at the HNJ breakfast to commemorate the 10th anniversary of September 11th. Brother Knights also continued their support of Pro-Life activities including the September 10th "Pro-Life seminar" and the "40 Days for Life" which commenced on September 26th. The Council also supported HNJ’s Christ Renews His Parish Retreat during the weekend of September 17th and 18th. Several brother Knights from our Council attended including me. Many other brothers participated on the formation and support teams and it was a wonderful experience. My thanks to all!

During our September Business Meeting a question came up concerning qualification for "Honorary Life Membership". For your information, it is awarded in recognition of long-term dedication to the Order, after 25 years of continuous service (at the age of 70), or 50 years of continuous membership regardless of age, a member merits the distinction of Honorary Life member-ship and is exempt from the further payment of dues, per capita charge and assessments.

I would also like to address another issue that arose during our September Business Meeting. Specifically, during a debate concerning a motion that was made regarding our Council’s support of the HNJ Golf Tournament.

I would remind all that we are obliged to conduct ourselves as Catholic Gentle-men; this means according each brother due respect, even if you personally oppose his position on a particular issue. We do our best to conduct our meetings in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order but, it is incumbent upon each of us to bear with one another patiently and to not interrupt when someone else has been recognized to speak and has the floor. For your information and use, we will provide an excerpt of Roberts Rules.

Our Ladies held an excellent first meeting of the newly formed "Lady Knights" in

September. Several had commented that they are motivated and wish to show their full support and participation in our charitable and fraternal activities. I, for one look forward to this and fully recognize that our ladies have always done such a wonderful job in the past. I believe that this, combined with their love, dedication, talent and spirituality will benefit them and us.

As our calendar reveals, we have many upcoming Council, Church, Community, Family activities and events that we will be supporting during the next month. October events that need your support and participation include: The HNJ – Joe Lamers Golf Tournament, the ProLife Chain, 40 Days for Life, our Recruiting & Membership Drive, our HNJ Fall Festival Set Up and Picnic, and the HNJ Fall Festival. I am especially asking for your help and support of our Friday, October 21st Dinner and our Beer Tent during the festival; remember this is a major commit-ment and all proceeds go to HNJ School. Our October planning meeting will be critical to the success of the festival, so please plan on attending.

In Brotherhood,

Bill

The Psalms

As we focus on the Psalms an important as-pect is praying them is to pray in our own name! This brings our own life experiences to the pray-ing of these ancient pray-ers.

PSALM 25

Prayer for Guidance and Help

To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul, in you, my God, I trust. Do not let me or permit my enemies to gloat over me. No one who places his hope in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will be the lot of all who break faith without justifica-tions.

Make your ways known to me, O Lord, teach me your paths.

Guide me in your truth and instruct me, for you are God, my Savior, and in you I hope all the day long.

Be mindful, O Lord, that mercy and kindness have been yours from of old.

Remember not the sins of my youth or my many trans-gressions, but remember me in your kindness, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord.

Good and upright is the Lord; therefore, he instructs sinners in his ways.

He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them the path to follow.

The ways of the Lord are kindness and truth for those who keep his covenant and his decrees. For the sake of your name, O Lord, pardon my iniquity, great though it be. Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will be shown the path he

should choose. He will enjoy lasting prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.

The Lord manifests himself to those who fear him, and he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever upon the Lord, for he alone can free my feet from the snare.

Turn to me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and afflicted. Relieve the an-guish of my heart and free me from my distress. Look upon my affliction and suffering and forgive all my sins.

Consider how numerous are my enemies, and how fierce is their hatred of me.

Preserve my life and deliver me; do not let me be put to shame, for I seek refuge in you. Let integrity and virtue preserve me, for in you I place my hope.

Redeem Israel, O God, from all its troubles.

Aaron
